Last weekend, AIESEC Latvia had its National Conference - NatCon 2008. The conference had a huge impact on our delegates and it turned out to be the best National Conference in the last years. We had 2 tracks, one dealing with PboX management for newies and one focused on Leadership Development for our EBs and OCPs.

Our conference team was made of 8 people of 6 nationalities. Our chair was Vishal, new elected MCP of AIESEC in Belgium. The facis were from Lithuania, Russia, Turkey, Romania and Latvia. All the conference team created a great atmosphere for AIESEC Latvia networking and bonding.

To the success of the conference contributed the externals invited, representing companies as PwC, Deloitte, Microsoft, CVO Recruitment and British Chamber of Commerce. It turned out that each day of the conference we had someone invited and delegates could network with the guests as most of them stayed at the conference later than planned initially (they enjoyed AIESEC spirit).

Added to this, we also had the chance to listen to the vision of the MC candidates for next term. They shared their ideas for how to improve and make AIESEC Latvia grow.

All these contributed to a great conference that made all delegates leave home inspired and motivated to work!

We as MC team would like to thank the faci team, the chair and the OC for contributing to NatCon 2008!

Hey dears,

I want to share one great thing that happened to me today.

I was invited to one press conference of one education program that is new in Latvia and will be launched in March. It is supported by Lattelecom, Hansa banka, Fontes and other companies. The aim of it is to raise teachers prestige and to make changes in the education system in Latvia. If the government is not doind any drastic change then corporates decided to take it and make some change

The name of the prgram is Iespejamaa misija - Mission possible and the idea - to select 20 students that will be prepared and educated during the summer and will work in schools for 2 years as teachers but the innovative ones and develop their skills as leaders, also will be the role models for the pupils. They will have the courses on leadership provided, on teaching, they will have also the practive in the company during the summer between those 2 years to make them more interesting for the pupils and not to restrict them from gettign the experience in the field they wanna work after. Maybe some of them will go to the comoanies to work afterwards, maybe will stay in schools. They will be getting scholarship during 2 years.

Latvia will be the 4th country in the world running such a programm. It is for 13 years in USA, for 4 years in Great Britain " Teachfirst". U can check it, also very very cool.

The guy from Great Britain who is responsible for the program named 8 competencies that are the basis for the selection of 300 program participants - the teachers - out of 2000.

In Estonia for one year " NOOREDKOOLI". And guess what - 2 of the Estonian organization team were - AIESEC alumni.

There was the time for asking the questions after the presentation of the program and I asked one and at the beginning I introduced myself and 2 persons turned their heads.

After they came and said that they were in AIESEC in Estonia for 6 years. They were in MC in international MC in Singapore and in other positions.

Also they were telling that they promoted AIESEC as a very good cooperation for this program in Latvia

I was amazed. It was nice.

So, if you are intersted in education issue, education changes in Latvia - go ahead.

I am really happy about such a step taken by the corporate sector. There was the respresentative from the ministry of Education and she was trying to hide, but she was so much conservative and was nice to see how the leaders of Latvia business - Hansa banka and Lattelecom were trying to nicely fight against her.

Have a nice day and I am happy that AIESEC is also bringing value to the change and some new sights in the pupils lifes - YW3, Informal age in Valmiera that is coming, Ethnical diversity

Hei dears,

Me and Karina promised to post here after our nice evening last night.
We want to start socialising right and have fun? Well, for sure this club is the place to go!
So I propose that next free weekend:) we are going again. I loved it!

We met with Karina and Marcio at Laima monument (the new name of Laima clock, given by Marcio). Of course, Marcio was late:).
We went to warm up at Salt'n Pepper, we all had nice drinks to warm up, as I said.

Then we were heading nicely towards the club, we got in (after being carefully checked by the guy at the entrance, we showed our ISIC card to tell him - daaa, we are 21!)...
And the fun began. We enjoyed dancing like crazy, we enjoyed meeting some of Karina's classmates, we enjoyed the nice good'looking guys from Riga (one was so good, but I think he was gay, he was not even looking at girls)...and then I experienced trying to be picked up in Latvian...haha, they were so dissapointed...

Well, I don t know how much you got out of our fun, but hat is crucial is the fact that we had loads of fun and we just enjoyed our unplanned going out!

Let's do this as often as possible...maybe I find some nice good-looking guys not being gay...

Hey guys !

Greetings from Prague,
today I got out of train at Praha Hlavni Nadrazi Stanica [Prague's train main station :P]
and the blues started :P

but before I spent one day in my belllloooooved country :))))
guys it was so weird to hear all those ppl speaking language that I understand :D:D:D
but on the other hand I realized that I missed it soooooooo much ...
I went to Lowicz, one hr by train from warsaw to meet my friends from LC Univ. Warszawski
as they had LTS there :) then came back to Waw and stayed at Igor's flat :)
Awesome :) on my way back I will buy lots of polish beer and other things that are not in LV [suprisingly :P there are such things :P ]

Currently sending out greetings from Czech MC flat, 30 min with the underground from centre :P
it's nice, tomorrow we're going to spend 4 hrs in trains to get to the venue.
Czech MC ppl are greeting you as well.

Again I work with multiromanian team :P this time 3 of them :)

and for now that's all :P

enjoy Ira's visit, make the best out of it, have a productive BoA meeting.

Wow, it was so great to see the conference happen, around 300 delegates, 10 LCs (2 out of them are new opened - Klaipeda in Lithuania and Valmiera in Latvia and Estonia is thinking to open a new one in Narva). We are growing.

It was really great to see the spirit, to see the knowledge that was given to people based on their needs - OCP having the special track from Coca Cola and getting the diplomas after attending the workshop. OCPs - it is so great and imperotant position with such a great experince of making the team, seeing the tendible results at the end, planning experience, responsibility - everything.
EBs - our leadership bodies had to challenge their minds with different simulations and learnings.Also the responsibility towards organizing the newies and making the spirit of the LC. I am proud of the LCs to be so well prepared with the roll calls and being so active and energetic, I just wish for the whole country to really feel it inside us , in our hearts that we are proud for the country and reality we are coming from.

NEWIES - those great people, so many of them and so passionate, eager to learn.

I personally had to lead the session - in the form of discussion about AIESEC XP opportunities and it was so great to hear what do they think about the Experience and what oportunities they would like to take once. I asked the question, aksed them to oush their limits and to think what opportunity would they chose once if they could not fail.

The answers were so amazing - chair od the conference, LCP, MCP, go for exchange :), open a new LC.

Great, this is the power that you can feel

I really enjoyed also the backstage - there were several teams - facis, they were working so hard to satisfy the delegates and meet their needs, surprise them and make them more challenged.
They were pushing their limits, some of them redisigning the outlines, some putting more and more creativity :)
The team was diverse - Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Romania, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania

Baltic MCs - YOoooooooooooooho. It was so great to see us all working for one thing, caring about one thing. Was great feeling to see the changes that were discussed during the Baltic MC meeting in summer implemented and changed. The whole conference was much more better then the year ago.

Chair - wow we had a PAI candidate, ex MCP ;) Peter from Austria.

A person who can work in two fronts - work great with facis and alos be great for the audience :)

Irina - our CEE GN board representative gave a great session about the CEE and we really created the atmosphere and gave a bit of taste for the members how is it to be a CEEtizin.

We had a feedback from Irina what to imptove and it was really useful.
Although she was sooooooooo energetic and could not understand how people can party till 5 am and then be on time for the sessions and even breakfast.

I really enjoyed talking and sharing with the MCs, because we are working and not seeing each other so often.
I really needed and ejoyed sharing with MCPs, it really helps for the motivation, especially when someone asked me - who is motivating MCP - and I realized that actually we have to find the source where to take the motivation from ourselves.
Energy motivated me a lot.

Seeing the things done and done with passion. willingness to do more and with the right attitude and understanding.

Baltic Ps meeting - MCPs and LCPs. These people - they were so united already from EuroCo, and it was such a pleasure to make a great time for them in the functional time. Feeling of belonging and responsibility.

I loved the coutry time. First time I saw all the members of AIESEC Latvia this term all together.

It was powerfull.
I see the people who enjoy the organization and who will be the future of smth that you like so much and really care about.

I am proud about my MC -one of them being in the agenda team, two in the faci team.
Another one leadign the functional time.

AIESEC...rocks the house. So great to hear from newies that they are more ambitious now and that they are really happy about finding the opportunity or the opportunity finding them.

Life...have you though why you like to wake up in the morning?
I like the early mornings, I like the summer colours - bright sky, sun and grass, flowers, butterflies. It is that you lack during the autumn, winter time.

I love people as well. you wake up and you do not know whom you will meet this day randomly, maybe the person, who will tell you a nice thing that will make you fly or the person, who will tell you smth that he does not like in you. It will make yout think and improve. Life is to discover things and to share things, to learn.

I found out some nice personal changes some days ago when I met my classmates - 2 years have passed, but we are still connected, we ahve our dreams and our new things that we like. Something has changed - we have the same names, we have the same past - I mean school years that we shared, but we are more mature, we are more grown up and we started to value people relationship more and more.

I really enjoyed the feeling that I have people around who are intersting for me and I am intersting for them. They are motivating not to stop and not to forget about the time, that is running and we have to use it as much as possible.

The time when you meet some people whom you value and whom you were spending nice moments together are like a souveniers from the nice trip somewherne which ended but you do not want to forget it :)

First day in Latvia....

Hello dears,

I just wanted to share with you some feelings I have now, on my first day in Latvia.
I arrived yesterday morning, at around 7 am, with Kuba.
I had a really long trip. And tiring one:)

I am glad to be here. Even if I have a cold and I don't feel very well, I cannot wait to meet you all.
You have a nice country, I just visited the sea, it is not that cold as you said:)
I cannot wait to meet you all and start working!

My dear AIESEC Latvia members!!!

Our great people, with whom we worked all this year!!! :)

I remember myself one year ago.. in the same day.. I read all letters from people, who shared their feelings about their outgoing year and I was thinking oooo it is so far.. when I will write my feelings...and emotions. :)

The next questions were: How will look like our year? How will we improve and what kind results will we bring?

So... today is this day... and to be honest it wasn't so far :D

Now looking back... all of us, 3 girls can say that it was very interesting year, very discovering year and very fruitful and meaningful year also.

Emotions and feelings.... hhhmmm I don't want to write them, i suppose we can speak about it by emails or phonecalls ;)

But what I want to stress.... it is one small thing, but in the same time very huge thing: Thank You..

THANK YOU to my team, to my 2 brave heards, who wasn't affraid to dream high and went with me till the end and bring results of this year ;) Without them this year wasn't be like this year.. full of discussions, new ideas, challenges, jokes through emails, working days and nights, unformal communication in the forest, professional meetings with companies, the best national conferences and the main...teamwork!!! I really love these 2 girls ;) Thank you!!!

THANK YOU to my NST guy.. this crazy person, who changed my minds about my working style with art people. Who support my crazy ideas and made with Edmunds the best official take over!! I really appreciate :)

I was sitting today in my garden near house, resting learning AIESEC and university materials. And I realised that already after 4 days You will be hear, and the best year in our life will start...challenging, hard, full of emotions, discussions but at the end I have A Dream, like Luther King said in His famous speech... I have a dream...That after this Year we will be the best team ever, we will make our dreams come true, we will reach the stars, we will make things that others was afraid...I have a dream...What is the most important that we will all become best friends...

Good bye party with my LC

Dears...

Yesterday I had very emotional day..
I saw for the last time my close friend, Wojdak. He is flying on saturday to New Zealand to take MCVP F position in @ New Zealand..We will see each other on IC in Istanbul, or after a year in Poland. Good luck mate for you and your beloved :)
But it wasnt the most emotional moment..

Emotions came in the evening.

We had, probably, last General Assembly of LC Nowy Sacz. The most important motion was to shorten our term to 15th of June as it is the earliest possible date to finish LC term in Poland. Afterwards we moved to "Any Other Business". We had some administrative information and then I was asked to sit in the middle of the room to watch ppt...
After some technical problems we managed to see it...

It was ppt prepared by my EB. They put there pictures from our LC, recent ones and very old as well. All of them describing and showing what AIESEC really is.
But the most important for me was couple of last slides...
I saw there words that touched my heart..They wrote that they thank me for building Lc, for being with them and for them since we started building our LC.
Believe me I had tears in my eyes and the same is happening now when I write it...
Maybe it was me who started this LC once again ;) but without you, my dear EB and members, it would never happen :) So here I should thank you as much as I can!

After GA we moved to restaurant for good bye party and celebration of my birthday that I had on sunday. We spend there magnificient time. I received many gifts and hear all my members singing Happy Birthday Kuba. Tears appeared once again...

I had one suprise as well :) I gaved my successor, Ewa, a shishka :) (in PL- szyszka) as she will be the most important taking care of our LC from 16th of June.
Ewa I wish you two times better term that we had for the last year. I believe in you, and I believe in all of our members that you will bring our LC to the bright moments and glory. I keep fingers crossed for you, and remember I am always for you, even though I will be far away, in Riga.

LC Nowy Sacz, and all of you, will be in my heart for ever! No matter if I will be in Riga, or in any place in the world. I am extreamly proud to be part of our LC! as well that I am proud that you're forming this LC with me :)

Last week I had a really great lecture in University. I had history of Arabia, but during this lecture we had a surprise because we had one special guest from England, who gave us really super one hour lecture about meditation and self reflection, how we have to learn to focus on things, and how to control Your mind and thoughts. He was a monk from England, leader of meditation in England, and all world now as Cristian meditation, but what was really cool that he is not speaking about one religion, no he is speaking about thinks that are important to everyone, to every religion, to everyone. His name is Laurence Freeman. He told as about his life, how he started to work on himself, it was really cool, about different religions and cultures. By the way Lowrance is very good friend of Dalai Lama, Tibetan leader.
And what I realised during his speech, I realised that once in my life I will organize the conference, where will be participating Dalai Lama, and this leader, and they will learn young people that doesn’t matter which religion You are, what You believe in this life, what really matters is Who You are? And do You believe in Yourself, and Do You respect others, that the only religion in the world.
And after this lecture I went to him, and we started to speak, about people in the world, about life, about AIESEC. I liked our conversation a lot, and I got his contacts. He was interested in doing some projects together and it is really cool, he gave me his books to read as a present. And I already started to think that my dream conference with Dalai Lama is not so far away. How world is small, You never now whom You will meet tomorrow.Life is beautiful

Hey!!! Finally I am here - in our blog. For the start some information about me...
What can I say... hmm... nothing new...
Always busy, do everything, have many ideas, I am a project manager, I make some yourneys around Kassel and Germany, spend time together with my friends everywhere in the world and my family (the most important people on the world). I have high goals, I hope that I will reach them. Let's see after 1 - 2 years. And by the way - directly after one year I will graduate my University. I will be Programming engineer. yei... And then - the bird will fly everywhere and will do everything that is necessary for full happiness and life goal reaching. :) But actually I am happy, very happy about me, my life, family and true friends, chances, challenges and my Kassel adventure. Today I feel really great. the most importnat thing why, is I learned finnaly perfectly to manage my time. I even have time to write here...Wau it is something.
Then today I had a really great time in our partners office Spring Valley,they gave us final feedback about experiment they were doing on AIESEC members, about new tipe of recruitment, and I were in high level 3, just like Jana, it was cool, to feel great and smart :D...
And then I realised one moment, that I miss Anca and Kuba, and that I wont to start our work faster, and to make all our dreams come true...I feel that this year will pass so fast that we will not even notice, but it will be great, because we will take every every second of it...

So what can I say about me. If trully I like more to speak others, sell them something :D , no just kidding

So who I am?
I am 21 years old boy from Latvia and I learn…I would start like this if I would be some 5 years ago in the past. Now I can sell my self :D.
But if truly I have done so many thinks in my life already that people more often ask me: ‘’What You haven’t done’’ I usually say – I haven’t dance ballet.
What I really like in this life, is people, doesn’t matter black, white, yellow or green aliens :D, yes by the way I believe in them :D.
My dream is already for 4 years to become ambassador of Good Will in United Nations, and I know that I will reach it. I want to leave something after me. As Alexander the Great told – Fortune favors the bold… Man always rise and fall, but what is important how much You did at the end of Your live, How much You have raised above others, and how many good things You did…As Alexander his failure raised against other people achievements, because his failure was something great something unbelievable. I want to become in this life person that will encourage others, not a common person that is leaving this life, but person who will change everything.

AIESEC appeared in my life when I was 20.
It Came in my life, and I even didn’t noticed it :D. I wrote application for member in some 30minutes and even didn’t think that I will be taken, but they asked me for conversation. I came and there set some cool guys, they were asking different questions, and I thought what they think…And then there was some educational conferences which I didn’t attend :D, and I thought of course they will not take me, but I went to Kuldiga, and every one liked our team, and they told I was like a leader, singed all the time, like leader should, and I liked to be a leader :D… Then there was first LC meeting for me…and again I liked it.
Then those cool people started to bring more cooler possibilities, people and so on, and they said: ‘’You can go to Baltic conference-it is cool’’ and I said-why not :D…
It changed my life, I realized that I want to be in this cool organization for long time, I want to organize something like this, not even cooler…and I want to be a CHAIR :D…
And when I came back I again had a chance…Who wants to organize conference???
I said I want…It was not easy to became OCP, but I did…And I did it as I want…I didn’t slept, together with my team we made miracles…We made National Conference like never before…It was great feeling, when people was surprised how amazing it was…And then last day of NatCon I am standing in the middle of empty class, where all 4days were action and my friends learning, and I realize what I want to do. I don’t want to be LCP or VPER in EB…I realize I want to become MCVPER…I know that it is almost impossible, but I want it from all my heart…And I will not do anything else…
I start to speak with different people – and they say then do it, don’t hesitate just do it…And I again remembered – FORTUNE FAVOURS THE BOLD…I will do it…I will break the laws…Doesn’t matter that I am only 6month in AIESEC I can be what I want…
And first I went to conference that changed everything in me, it was called CEELDS, and I realized everything I need, hard times of education, and responsible day of elections. I will always remember how Karina called me and told…in sad voice: ‘’Hello Pavel. How are you? (I am saying stupidly : D OK)And How does VPER feels?(And I just what???)She say You are elected-congratulations (but I just silently listen to her and can say nothing…It was funny…, but it was amazing…)
And now my dear team I am waiting to break laws with You, to make our dreams fulfill…
Dreams will fulfill because we are the ones to make them true…

I am so happy...about spring, about the AIESEC future, about being busy, about transition, about planning and about new EB teams...about MC team coming and work starting...

About me:
A Russian girl, finished Latvian school...Feel both...
Study economics and management in Riga Technical university (2nd year)
Never liked econimics at school. Wanted to be interior designer...
I love languages and philosofy
4 years spent in the Art School, did a lot of things additionally - horse riding, piano playing, knitting courses (it was fun), swimming, salsa

My favourite AIESEC value is Demonstrating intergrity

I like self-reflection and sometimes do it too much, but I see the need in it and really like this process of thoughs.
I love the sky in the evening when it is in different colours - light pink, blue, yellow, purple.

I like NATURE and my passion is to have some evenings in summer when you can sit in the nature and paint for at least 5 hours.Relaxing...mmm

What is cool in AIESEC - concentration of great people around, the challenges, disuccions, self development and opportunity to develop others, to contribute to the development of others. International friends and the process of dreaming and then seeing the dreams coming true.

Wow...

I really like people being natural - perform as they are and not being afraid to show their personality. I love people being opened to new ideas, to feedback and to support.

What I want to develop in myself - high level of generosity,
take it easy attitude and understanding that the presence is the most important what we have - future and past we do not have, but now we have these moments and we have to live them with our full presence.

What I am thinking about a lot is the saying that I have heard in CEEMOS 2006
Wish for the leaders - I wish that you could achieve some great good for mankind and have nobody know it except you.

I wish a very good year, wonderfull summer and a lot of motivation for all the things that have to be done
